Nokia Drive App In Lumia 510

Nokia Drive is one of the key app from the Nokia Exclusive apps for Lumia Series of Windows Phone Smartphones. Nokia released the app for Lumia 800 without offline mode when it was released. But now the Nokia Drive app for Lumia is as good as the Nokia Drive app you can find on Symbian Smartphones with added features like 3D maps, offline mode etc.

Eventhough the Nokia Lumia 510 is priced low, there is no compromise in the bundled Nokia exclusive apps. Nokia Drive comes bundled on Lumia 510.

When you open the app it asks you to the select the Country maps you want and the preferred language for Voice Navigation.

You can either choose to download the maps for whole India or state-wise. There are some new local additions to the Drive app.

It now supports Hindi – Female Voice Navigation and Tamil – Male Voice Navigation.

Preferred connection to download maps is WiFi as it weighs some Megabytes. You can download them if you want offline navigation else go online where the phone will load the maps as you request.

The main screen of the app have the toggle to switch between 2D and 3D maps. Below that is the set Destination button to search local desitnations.

Settings consists of options for Units, Navigation Voice, Offline/Online Mode etc.

Click Set destination and search for the places. Nokia Maps will fetch you a list of places. matching you search query.

The results also consists of Miles between your current location and the selected place and also the approx. time to reach the location. Click the preferred destination to start navigation.

The Nokia Drive then starts the map view with driving directions, time taken and speed of your vehicle. You can zoom in / out using the +/- buttons in the top of the map view.
